Gmund Ceramics - since 1492
Handmade with love
It is the handwork that makes the products of Gmundner Keramik so valuable. Up to sixty times the individual pieces go through the expert hands of the ceramic specialists. They ensure the precise execution of the individual decorations. Precisely because each piece is carefully decorated, these products are unique. None of them looks the same in the end. They are made according to a time-honoured recipe. The technique has been the same for centuries. Gentle rationalisation is only used where it does not harm the individual character of the products.
The high art of pottery
First the raw material is prepared, then it has to be shaped. Plates are turned, coffee pots or milk jugs are moulded. The moulds are also made in the company's own workshop. They can only be used about veizig times. In the retouching department, the cosmetic fine-tuning is done, by hand of course. Then the blank is fired for the first time, glazed and finally moves on to the heart of production: the decorating department. The second firing gives the ceramic the desired hardness, and the colour unfolds its full brilliance.
Each piece is unique - the professional painters at Gmundner Keramik set the scene with flower after flower, squiggle or stag according to precise instructions, brushstroke after brushstroke. For this, a precise sense of proportion, a steady hand, a lot of skill and calmness are a must. Of course, the love of detail is also part of the process, and the result can be admired and purchased in the shops.
So that every piece stays beautiful for a long time
Gmundner ceramics can be cleaned in the dishwasher at any time. Our recommendation:
Rinse at a maximum of 50 °C. This will protect the material.
Use rinsing powder instead of tabs. Powder can be dosed and is less aggressive.
Allow water vapour to escape completely after the rinse cycle. This prevents limescale stains.
Regularly straighten bent wires in the dishwasher basket. This will prevent your dishes from hitting each other.
Microwave
You can use Gmundner ceramics in the microwave at any time. Our recommendation:
Only use completely dried dishes in your microwave after the rinse cycle. Otherwise it may heat up too much due to the residual moisture.
Small tip:
Use the microwave as a practical plate warmer. Simply place the plates in the microwave for a few seconds.
